The event category is used to help clarify the category of the event. The event sub-categories are used to further refine the intent of an event.<\/p>\n

The event category definitions are as follows:<\/p>\n

Administrative<\/strong>
\nEvents of the Section\/Chapter\/Affinity Group Executive Committee to discuss Unit administrative matters (for example \u2013 elections, Section functions, activity planning, etc.)<\/p>\n

The administrative event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n

  • ExCom<\/li>\n
  • Officer Training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Humanitarian<\/strong>
    \nEvents to support the vision of \u200b\u200bHumanitarian Technology\u200b group.<\/p>\n

    The humanitarian event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Other<\/li>\n
    • SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Nontechnical<\/strong>
      \nThese are generally events of a professional nature.<\/p>\n

      The nontechnical event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n

      • Awards Dinner<\/li>\n
      • Nontechnical (Other)<\/li>\n
      • Pre-University Activities (Teacher\u2013In-Service Program, a science fair)<\/li>\n
      • Social<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Pre-U STEM Program<\/strong>
        \nEvents to support Pre-U STEM Programs.<\/p>\n

        The Pre-U STEM Program event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n

        • Career Day<\/li>\n
        • Competition\/STEM Fairs<\/li>\n
        • Girls in STEM<\/li>\n
        • Industry\/Company Tour<\/li>\n
        • Mentoring<\/li>\n

        • Student Workshop<\/li>\n
        • Teacher Workshop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Professional<\/strong>
          \nEvents to enhance professional development (such as continuing education, a speaker discussing the current job market, preparation of resumes, etc.).<\/p>\n

          • Industry Relations – events and activities with local industries (eg. a tour))<\/li>\n
          • Professional (Other)<\/li>\n

            Technical<\/strong>
            \nEvents of a technical nature specific to the needs of the Unit, or of interest to the members. Society Chapters must hold and report a minimum of two technical events annually in order to qualify for the rebate.
