The event sub-categories are used to further refine the intent of an event.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1929\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1929\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.ieee.org\/vtools\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/EventCategories.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1929\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.ieee.org\/vtools\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/EventCategories-1024x473.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kb.ieee.org\/vtools\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/\/EventCategories-1024x473.gif 1024w, https:\/\/kb.ieee.org\/vtools\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/\/EventCategories-370x171.gif 370w, https:\/\/kb.ieee.org\/vtools\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/\/EventCategories-768x355.gif 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1929\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Click to enlarge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event category definitions are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administrative<\/strong><br \/>\nEvents of the Section\/Chapter\/Affinity Group Executive Committee to discuss Unit administrative matters (for example \u2013 elections, Section functions, activity planning, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>The administrative event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ExCom<\/li>\n<li>Officer Training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Humanitarian<\/strong><br \/>\nEvents to support the vision of \u200b\u200bHumanitarian Technology\u200b group.<\/p>\n<p>The humanitarian event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Other<\/li>\n<li>SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nontechnical<\/strong><br \/>\nThese are generally events of a professional nature.<\/p>\n<p>The nontechnical event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Awards Dinner<\/li>\n<li>Nontechnical (Other)<\/li>\n<li>Pre-University Activities (Teacher\u2013In-Service Program, a science fair)<\/li>\n<li>Social<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pre-U STEM Program<\/strong><br \/>\nEvents to support Pre-U STEM Programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Pre-U STEM Program event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Camp<\/li>\n<li>Career Day<\/li>\n<li>Competition\/STEM Fairs<\/li>\n<li>Girls in STEM<\/li>\n<li>Industry\/Company Tour<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring<\/li>\n<li>Parent Program<\/li>\n<li>Student Workshop<\/li>\n<li>Teacher Workshop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Professional<\/strong><br \/>\nEvents to enhance professional development (such as continuing education, a speaker discussing the current job market, preparation of resumes, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>The professional event sub-categories are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continuing Education<\/li>\n<li>Industry Relations &#8211; events and activities with local industries (eg. a tour))<\/li>\n<li>Professional (Other)<\/li>\n<li>Professional Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical<\/strong><br \/>\nEvents of a technical nature specific to the needs of the Unit, or of interest to the members. Society Chapters must hold and report a minimum of two technical events annually in order to qualify for the rebate.
